Barrett, Hudak, call for respect and relief for families

SIMCOE – Respect and relief for families will be the focus of the Ontario Opposition when they return to Queen’s Park next week according to Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Toby Barrett.

“McGuinty has failed to respect that Ontario families pay the bills while watching their tax dollars wasted on sweetheart deals, lavish expenses, and needless bureaucracy,” Barrett asserted. “This government has grown so out of touch they think families have an endless ability to pay for their tax, and price hikes.”

Barrett said that when the Legislature returns Tuesday the Opposition aims to hold the government to account for the ongoing tax and spend McGuinty approach.

Since coming to office, Dalton McGuinty has brought in the largest income tax increase and the largest sales tax increase in Ontario history. Ontario’s electricity rates are amongst the highest in Canada as are auto insurance rates and tuition fees.

“It’s time to get government focused on the services and concerns that matter the most, like frontline healthcare, safe neighbourhoods, and skyrocketing electricity bills,” noted Barrett. “Being the final legislative session before October’s election, we will make it clear that if government is not prepared to respect taxpayers, it’s time move aside for someone who will.”
