FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Dec. 3, 2021

CALEDONIA, ON – Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Toby Barrett and the Caledonia Legion Branch 154 (also known as Caledonia Legion) today recognized a Government of Ontario’s Community Building Fund – Operating Stream grant of $37,200. The fund is being delivered by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

“Legion branches are an important part of the community,” said Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Toby Barrett. “Not only are they a gathering place for members and crucial to ongoing advocacy for veterans and to highlight Canada’s war efforts, but also are great community boosters.”

This Community Building Fund – Operating Stream grant will enable the Caledonia Legion to deal with operating and staffing costs following the reduction in revenue caused by closures and capacity restrictions as a result of the COVID pandemic. The project lasts till the fall of 2022 and will allow the Caledonia Legion to continue its activities as well as providing jobs for its employee allowing the organization to continue providing a welcoming and safe space for the community.

“Caledonia Legion Branch 154 was severely impacted by the closures and restrictions during the COVID pandemic,” said Neil Bell, branch treasurer. “The receipt of this Ontario Trillium Grant will allow us to cover utility costs and keep our staff employed so that we can continue to serve veterans and the community while we go through this recovery process.”

Caledonia Legion Branch 154 welcomes all, members, or non-members, and has been serving veterans and the Caledonia community since 1929.  We are the heart of Remembrance in Caledonia and a community hub for veterans, seniors, youth, and the entire community.  More information about membership and our activities can be found at our website www.caledonialegion154.ca or on Facebook athttps://www.facebook.com/rclbr154.
