Ontario’s Open for Business plan is one that will create jobs and economic prosperity in all types of communities.
Approximately 12.5 per cent of jobs across Ontario are sustained by the agricultural and agri-food sectors. In Haldimand-Norfolk, the numbers are much higher, which contributes to the well-being of our local economy.
Good news for the riding has arrived just in time for Christmas. Haldimand County is receiving $20,000 in funding, through the Rural Economic Development Program to develop an economic development and tourism strategy as a means to focus the county’s attraction of business investment.
“Our government is proud to support projects that help to grow jobs and open the doors to economic development in rural communities,” Haldimand Norfolk MPP Toby Barrett said. “Ontario has a first-class agri-food and agriculture sector, and we are pleased to be able to help our community identify their economic strengths and develop strategies that can attract business and investment in tourism.”

A strong and vibrant agri-food and agriculture sector is a priority for this government,” said Ontario Agriculture Minister Ernie Hardeman. “These investments along with our commitment to cut red-tape will help create a strong future for our rural communities by boosting economic growth, creating jobs and ensuring hey are great places to live and do business.”
Haldimand County is one of over 80 communities receiving this financial benefit designed to boost and diversify local economies.
