QUEEN’S PARK – Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Toby Barrett is proud to announce that Burning Kiln Winery’s 2010 Strip Room red has been chosen as the Legislative Assembly of Ontario’s Private Label Wine for 2011-12.

Each year, Members of Provincial Parliament have a tasting to choose a red and white wine that will be served at Legislative Assembly events through the coming year. Burning Kiln’s Strip Room was chosen for the red vintage while Beamsville’s Good Earth Food and Wine’s Reisling was the preferred white wine.

“Burning Kiln was the first wine I tasted during the event and received my vote,” said MPP Toby Barrett. “It was the only wine served at the event that wasn’t from the Niagara Peninsula.”

Burning Kiln Winery opened in the spring of 2011 on Front Road between St. Williams and Turkey Point. It is owned by Frank DeLeebeeck, Mike McArthur, Scott Fixter, Dave Pond, Todd Saunders, Steve Malo and Gord Malo. Burning Kiln’s initial vintage has already won several awards.

Burning Kiln is one of a growing number of wineries that is part of Norfolk County’s blossoming estate wine industry.
