FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 6, 2019
SIMCOE – Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Toby Barrett wants to remind turkey hunters to fill out their mandatory reports now that turkey season is closed.
As part of the changes to the licensing system, mandatory reporting of hunting effort, success and wildlife seen while hunting all must be reported. The report needs to be filled out even if the hunter didn’t harvest a turkey. This spring marks the first time there is mandatory reporting for turkey hunting.
“Mandatory reporting is an essential tool in wildlife management,” Barrett said. “Although it’s new to Ontario hunters, it’s been standard practice in many jurisdictions for years.”
If the mandatory report isn’t filled out, hunters may have their hunting privileges disqualified for one season.
