Ontario government launches consultation into public spending

SIMCOE – Ontario’s Government for the People is continuing to take action in restoring trust and accountability in the province’s finances.

On Aug. 29, a three-week online public consultation, Planning for Prosperity: A Consultation for the People was launched to complement the line-by-line review of all provincial programs and services.

“Premier Doug Ford and our government are committed to restoring accountability and trust in how taxpayers’ money is spent,” said Hon. Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy, President of the Treasury Board of Ontario, who is overseeing the initiative. “These consultations and the line-by-line review will help us improve public services so that Ontarians have confidence that their money is being spent with prudence and care.”

“I encourage Haldimand-Norfolk residents to submit their input to the consultation process,” said Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Toby Barrett. “This is a unique opportunity to find savings for the benefit of all.”

Ontarians will have the opportunity to rank the importance and effectiveness of a range of government services. This survey will allow people, including members of the Ontario Public Service, to suggest new ideas to transform the way those services are delivered, in an open and transparent forum.
