Ontario invests over $5-million in Haldimand-Norfolk infrastructure

SIMCOE – The Ontario government continues to make infrastructure investments in Haldimand-Norfolk and across rural Ontario.

The Ministry of Infrastructure has confirmed $200 million in funding for small, rural and northern communities through the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund. Haldimand County is receiving $2,620,313 for 2019, while Norfolk County’s grant rings in at $2,547,527.

“This is great news for both counties,” Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Toby Barrett said. “These provincial funds are critical to keeping core assets like roads, bridges and water treatment facilities safe and healthy.”

Last month, Minister of Infrastructure Monte McNaughton launched the $500 million Rural and Northern Stream of the integrated bilateral Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program in which small municipalities have until May 14th to apply.

“Rural and small-town Ontario suffered greatly under the previous government,” Barrett said. “It’s time investments are made into areas like ours which are truly the backbone of this province.”
