Petition in support of building a memorial to those who served in Afghanistan

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 6, 2018

QUEEN’S PARK—MPP Toby Barrett, during this week of Remembrance, has made available in his constituency office a petition to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in support of building a memorial to Canadian veterans of Afghanistan.

“Over 40,000 Canadians bravely served in the war in Afghanistan with 159 making the ultimate sacrifice.  This memorial will show our eternal gratitude for their honourable service protecting the values we hold dear,” said Barrett, MPP for Haldimand-Norfolk.

Premier Doug Ford has committed to building a memorial honouring the bravery and sacrifice of our Afghan veterans.  The memorial will be a solemn remembrance, a tribute, and a constant reminder for future generations.

The member for Haldimand-Norfolk invites those who wish to honour the bravery of our veterans to sign the petition at his Simcoe constituency office at 39 Norfolk Street North.
