SIMCOE – Ontario is making available three different grant programs to assist the province’s tourism, culture and non-profit sectors to weather the COVID-19 pandemic.
“When the pandemic recedes, these sectors will be important components of the economic recovery,” said Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Toby Barrett. “Jobs in this sector continues to grows in Haldimand and Norfolk Counties.”
Through the new Reconnect Festival and Event Program, the government is investing $9 million to support event organizers who have adapted or who are adapting to new public safety requirements to allow for their events to continue. To qualify, an event must take place between Aug. 12, 2020 and March 31, 2021.
The government is also investing $83 million to support non-profit organizations across the province through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s one-time Resilient Communities Fund. This funding will help eligible non-profit organizations rebuild and recover from the impacts of COVID-19.
To help the arts sector rebuild in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the province is offering one-year dedicated 2020-21 funding support through the Ontario Arts Council’s $1.6-million Arts Response Initiative. This is available to individuals, ad hoc groups and organizational partnerships.
Deadlines are:
· Nov. 3 for Ontario Arts Council Arts Response Initiaitive.
· Dec. 1 for Reconnect Festival and Event Program
· Dec. 2 for the OTF Reilient Communities Fund
