SIMCOE – Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Toby Barrett was beaming with pride when he heard two local companies were amongst those who received the Premier’s Award for Agri-Innovation Excellence.

Ramblin’ Road Brewery of La Salette was honoured for its beer-dipped kettle chips and its potato beer. Dakota Pearl Potato Ale is now the micro-brewery’s best-selling ale.

Zurbuchen Farm of Waterford received recognition for its unique technology used for removing flowers and pruning trees. The operation uses a belt and bin system to increase productivity during harvest.

“Norfolk and Haldimand farmers have long been on the leading edge in regards to innovation,” Barrett said. “There has been a long tradition of farmers from this riding winning and I am glad to see that continue.”

As the Agriculture Critic for the Official Opposition, Barrett also extended congratulations to the other winners.
