SIMCOE<\/strong> \u2014 Ontario is\nmodernizing services related to the province’s building code to help speed up\nthe construction of new housing and building projects. Better services,\nup-to-date tools and new resources will help people better understand and meet\nbuilding code requirements, while maintaining the same high standards for\npublic safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis\nshould be a good step forward towards alleviating housing shortages across our\ntwo counties,\u201d said Toby Barrett, Haldimand-Norfolk MPP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“For\nmany years the building sector and the public have been calling on government\nto do a better job of providing a range of services related to the Building\nCode,” said Steve Clark, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.\n“We are proposing some solutions and are launching a consultation to find\nout what people think.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\ngovernment is proposing to create an administrative authority that could\ndeliver new and enhanced services, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
