SIMCOE – The Ontario government’s consultation into auto insurance reform is now open for input from the province’s drivers.
You can have your say by visiting bit.ly/2QCrRot and sharing your input no later than February 15, 2019.
This consultation will take place alongside a review of Ontario’s auto insurance rate regulation system. The review will examine practices in other jurisdictions and identify opportunities to achieve greater efficiencies and introduce more competition into the system.
In addition to listening to input on how we can modernize the system by cutting red tape, Ontario is:
- Creating a regulatory framework that allows for a more modern auto insurance sector, including electronic communications, and electronic proof of auto insurance.
- Moving toward full electronic commerce, similar to what is already provided by other financial institutions today, including banks and credit unions.
“This is a step toward lowering insurance rates for Ontario drivers and I encourage residents to fill in the survey,” said Toby Barrett, Haldimand-Norfolk MPP.
“Lower auto insurance rates mean we can put more money back into the pockets of taxpayers,” said Finance Minister Vic Fedeli.
