FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 20, 2021
SIMCOE – Due to the continuing success of Ontario’s vaccine rollout and the collective efforts of Ontarians in following public health and workplace safety measures to date, effective May 22, 2021 at 12:01 a.m. the province will reopen outdoor recreational amenities with restrictions, and outdoor gathering limits will be expanded to five people.
“This is a big leap forward to allow boating and golf as of the Victoria Day weekend,” said Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Toby Barrett. “I have been pushing for the opening of low-risk outdoor activities and it’s great to hear the case counts are such it can happen this weekend.”
This means marinas can be open with limited services and recreational boating is permitted but only for members of the same household. Other things which can open are: golf courses, tennis courts, skateboarding parks, sports fields, BMX and skate parks, shooting ranges and archery ranges, horse riding and others, with restrictions. No outdoor sports or recreational classes are permitted.
