Simcoe – Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Toby Barrett says the Official Opposition will build partnerships with the horse racing industry, and encourage it to thrive.

“People in Haldimand-Norfolk, and across Ontario for that matter, are concerned with the Wynne government’s decision to end the slots at racetracks, Barrett said. “Instead we see a government in favour of big international casino corporations.”

Barrett and the Official Opposition insist they will shelve the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s plan to build and open 29 new casinos.

“If gaming is to be expanded, then why not build on what we have at the tracks,” Barrett mused, and pointed to the success of the Slots at Racetracks program. “We need to build partnerships with the horse racing industry so it can thrive once again.”
