Will Wynne confront the legacy of scandal?

QUEEN’S PARK – Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Toby Barrett invoked the biblical Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse in predicting the legacies of e-health, Caledonia, Ornge and natural gas plant scandals will continue to haunt the McGuinty-Wynne era.

“When the new Premier says she wants to build on Mr. McGuinty’s legacy, she fails to recognize the scandal-plagued cornerstones that legacy is built upon,” stated Barrett. “From e-health , to Caledonia, Ornge and natural gas plant cancellations, the McGuinty-Wynne legacy symbolizes, in my mind, the Four Horsemen of the Apocolypse.”

Commenting ahead of Ms. Wynne’s throne speech, Barrett says he looks to demand answers on the costly, ongoing trail of scandals.

“I can’t see this province moving forward in any real way until these issues are addressed in a meaningful way– we in Opposition are tasked with reining them in and exposing the truth,” he said.

Barrett says while the face of government may have changed he’s convinced, “people in my area – and indeed across the province – realize this is a case of ‘meet the new boss, same as the old boss’.”
