For Immediate Release:
September 30, 2010

Queens Park – As electricity bill rate hikes send shockwaves across the province Opposition Environment Critic Toby Barrett is asking residents and stakeholders alike to raise their voices before McGuinty’s water bill becomes a reality.

Committee hearings have been set for Toronto to consider Bill 72, An Act to enact the Water Opportunities Act, 2010. Hearings are set for Monday, October 18 and Wednesday, October 20th.

“People are already struggling under the weight of unprecedented electricity rate hikes –
I’m concerned that people won’t be able to afford this McGuinty water bill,” Barrett warned. “At the same time there is need for action on water infrastructure in this province – I encourage ratepayers and stakeholders to make themselves heard to ensure government gets it right.”
