QUEEN’S PARK – Tomorrow is the day Ontario residents will finally get answers on the real cost of the cancellation of the scrapped natural gas generating station in Oakville when the auditor general’s report is released.
“While I look forward to knowing the truth, it will be a sad day to find out how much taxpayers’ money was squandered to ensure the re-election of Liberal MPP’s in the last election,” said Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Toby Barrett.
He questioned why it’s taken two years for the truth to finally come out.
“Kathleen Wynne co-chaired the 2011 Liberal campaign that made the decision,” Barrett said. “She signed the cabinet document authorizing the Oakville cancellation. She’s known the answer all along. Today is her last chance to come clean with the people of Ontario before the auditor general reveals it tomorrow.”
Barrett lamented Ontario electricity consumers are the real losers as they pay the costs on each and every one of their electricity bills.
“At every opportunity, the Liberals have put their party ahead of the good people of this province,” Barrett concluded. “Nothing has changed since Kathleen Wynne took over from Dalton McGuinty.”
